Free Museums in New London, Connecticut

U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY

U.S. Coast Guard Museum spans the 200-year history of America's premier maritime service, this collection features paintings, medals, ship models, uniforms, figurehead carvings and more. Located on the main floor of Waesche Hall, housed in the same building as the Library and Admissions. Free and open to the public. Valid photo ID is required to get on campus. Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 4:30 p.m. The museum is closed on all federal holidays and on weekends during the Academy's winter, spring, and summer breaks.

Parking: The Coast Guard Academy welcomes visitors and provides clearly marked Visitor spaces near the Museum (Waesche Hall) and beside the Visitors Center. Added visitor parking, if necessary, can be found at the Alumni Center.
