Free Connecticut Date-Night Ideas

Go to the casino. It's a quick road trip to either Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. Play the slots or the tables, shop or catch a concert while you're there. If the kids are at Grandma's house why not make it an overnight trip.

Visit local wineries. The Connecticut Wine Trail consists of nineteen vineyards and is divided into two sections, East and West, with many of the vineyards right here in New Haven County. Over 10 CT wineries will participate in the Shoreline Wine Festival on August 15th & 16th at Bishop's Orchards Farm Market and Winery in Guilford.

Litchfield Jazz Festival. In its 14th year, the jazz festival runs from July 31st - Aug 2 in Kent, CT. This year's line-up includes Jane Monheit, Wycliffe Gordon, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jay Leonhart, Benny Green, Poncho Sanchez, Trio da Paz and many more.

Cruise on the Connecticut River. Bring a picnic basket and wine with you as you enjoy an evening cruise up the Connecticut River. Cruises leave from Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam.

Go shopping at the outlets. Walk around and shop till you drop at Clinton Crossing or Tanger Outlet Center in Westbrook.

Tubing on the Farmington River. This one is obviously a daytime activity. It is also for our more adventurous couples, but can be a ton of fun.

Walk along the beach. It could be your local town beach or a state park like Hammonasset or Lighthouse. Take advantage of the time alone without the everyday distractions.
